Last updated September 10, 2026

This policy explains what personal information Gold & Money Hub collects, why, how we protect it, and the choices you have. We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and its ten fair information principles.

Who we are

1001491185 Ontario Inc., operating as Gold & Money Hub, Unit 17, 2325 Hurontario St, Mississauga, ON L5B 4C7. We buy gold and silver and act as an agent location for Western Union, MoneyGram and Ria money transfers.

Privacy Officer. Our Privacy Officer is accountable for this policy and for handling requests and complaints. Contact: info@goldmoneyhub.ca, (905) 514-5141, or in writing at the address above.

What we collect and why

In store

  • Selling precious metals. We record your name, address, date of birth and government photo ID details, a description of the items, their weight and karat, and the price paid. This is required of precious-metal buyers, helps prevent the sale of stolen goods, and gives you a complete receipt.
  • Money transfers. The provider (Western Union, MoneyGram or Ria) requires sender and receiver identification and transaction details to complete and report the transfer under Canadian anti-money-laundering law. That information is collected on the provider's forms and systems and is governed by the provider's privacy policy as well as this one.
  • Security. Our store uses video surveillance for the safety of customers and staff. Recordings are kept for a limited period and viewed only when there is an incident or a lawful request.

On this website

  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, approximate city-level location, device type). Google sets cookies for this. IP addresses are truncated by Google before storage. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on or by blocking cookies.
  • Map. The interactive map loads from Google only if you choose to load it.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records IP address, browser type and pages requested for security and troubleshooting, and retains logs for a limited time.

How we use it

To provide the service you asked for, to meet legal record-keeping and reporting obligations, to respond to your enquiries, to protect against fraud, theft and error, and to understand how our website performs. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for marketing unless you ask us to keep in touch.

Sharing

We share personal information only as needed to provide a service or as required by law: with Western Union, MoneyGram or Ria to complete a transfer you request; with our email, hosting and analytics providers, who process data on our behalf; and with police, regulators or courts where the law requires it. Some providers store data outside Canada, where it may be subject to local law.

Retention

Purchase records and identification collected for precious-metal purchases and money transfers are kept for the periods required by law (typically at least five years for transaction records) and then securely destroyed. Analytics data is retained according to Google's settings for our account (currently 14 months).

Security

Paper records are kept in locked storage; electronic records are on password-protected systems available only to staff who need them. Our website is served over HTTPS. No method is perfectly secure, and we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner where the law requires it if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm.

Your rights

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent where the law allows. Contact the Privacy Officer using the details above; we respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca or 1-800-282-1376.

Children

Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

Third-party links

Our website links to third-party sites such as Google Maps, Ontario.ca and provider websites. Their privacy practices are their own.
