How we price your gold

There is no mystery to it. Your payout comes from three numbers we measure right in front of you:

  • Weight. How many grams of metal you have, on a certified scale.
  • Purity. The karat, which tells us how much of that weight is actually gold.
  • Live market price. The current spot price of gold, which moves throughout the day.

Higher karat means more pure gold per gram, which means a higher payout. We walk you through each figure so the offer is never a black box.

Karat quick guide

How much pure gold each karat contains.

24K 99.9% gold Pure gold. The highest payout per gram.
22K 91.7% gold Common in coins and South Asian jewellery.
18K 75.0% gold Premium jewellery, often stamped 750.
14K 58.3% gold Very common in North American jewellery, stamped 585.
10K 41.7% gold Entry-level gold jewellery, stamped 417.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk in any time during business hours. Most gold assessments take just a few minutes.

What do I need to bring?

Your items and a valid government-issued photo ID. We are required to record ID for purchases.

Will you really test it in front of me?

Yes. Testing and weighing happen at the counter where you can watch the whole process.

Do you buy broken or single pieces?

Yes. Broken chains, single earrings, and damaged jewellery are valued by their gold content, not their looks.

How do you decide what to pay?

Payout = weight in grams, times the purity (karat), times the live market price, less a small margin. We show you each part of the math.

Is there any obligation to sell?

None. We give you a firm offer. If you would rather keep your items, you simply take them home.

How will I be paid?

Cash, on the spot, the same visit.
